“ I was heading East on Jackson St., stopped on red light at 14th Ave. Beyond 14th, 2 lanes merge into one and a bicycle lane starts. A car pulled up behind me and there was a car to my left. When the light turned green, the car behind me sped, trying to slip between me and the car to my left to try to get ahead of the car next to me before the lanes merge. The driver was so close to me that my leg was rubbing on his front quarter panel and then my handlebar clipped the side view mirror. I was thrown from my bike to the ground. The driver sped off and I got no license.
I commute Jackson St via bike every day and have had other close calls but never an accident until then. Every day so many cyclist ride up and down Jackson...A bike lane is definitely need from 1st Ave to 14th ”
